Summary

The concise edition of the 2019 WINNER OF THE INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS BOOK AWARD

From the million-copy bestselling author of The 48 Laws of Power

Robert Greene is a master guide for millions of readers, distilling ancient wisdom and philosophy into essential texts for seekers of power, understanding and mastery。 Now he turns to the most important subject of all - understanding people's drives and motivations, even when they are unconscious of them themselves。

We are social animals。 Our very lives depend on our relationships with people。 Knowing why people do what they do is the most important tool we can possess, without which our other talents can only take us so far。 Drawing from the ideas and examples of Pericles, Queen Elizabeth I, Martin Luther King Jr, and many others, Greene teaches us how to detach ourselves from our own emotions and master self-control, how to develop the empathy that leads to insight, how to look behind people's masks, and how to resist conformity to develop your singular sense of purpose。

Whether at work, in relationships, or in shaping the world around you, The Concise Laws of Human Nature offers brilliant tactics for success, self-improvement, and self-defence。

Lots to glean from this book but it is hidden in a sea of words and drawn out stories。 I recommend getting the concise version of this book。 It’s much easier to read and digest。 That said, Robert is an excellent researcher and writer。 It’s obvious that he puts exhaustive effort into writing his books。 I enjoyed the book。

Most of the time, we are taught to be perfect people, but we all have strengths and weaknesses。 Our flaws can be the things that make us the best。 All of the important people in history found a way to make their flaws part of what made them strong。 It is in our nature to do so。

Nicholas Galinaitis

Useful and motivational!

Travis

Excellent book but often used 100 words where 1 would have been fine。

An interesting book to say the least。 Robert Greene definitely has his ways with words, so much so that he could get away with anything。 My issue with this book, aside from its somewhat forced structure or slowness or drag, is that it does a poor job separating thoughts and ideas from proven science。 Using the same type of compelling tone when describing a proven fact as when touching upon a case of subjective philosophy is troublesome, especially for a reader trying to learn a thing or two。Whil An interesting book to say the least。 Robert Greene definitely has his ways with words, so much so that he could get away with anything。 My issue with this book, aside from its somewhat forced structure or slowness or drag, is that it does a poor job separating thoughts and ideas from proven science。 Using the same type of compelling tone when describing a proven fact as when touching upon a case of subjective philosophy is troublesome, especially for a reader trying to learn a thing or two。While I enjoyed this read for the most part, I encourage future readers to take it with a grain of salt。 Is it persuasive? For sure。 Does that always prove its case? Not really。 。。。more
